Heavy Smoke to Keep Coast Cool with Rain in the Forecast

Temperatures are forecast to be above average over parts of the interior Pacific Northwest in part due to strong upper-level ridging over the West Coast. Subsiding air associated with the ridge will aid in air stagnation over the region.

On the coast, heavy smoke conditions are expected to keep temperatures in the mid 60’s with lows in the lower 50’s as a chance for precipitation enters the area Monday.

The ongoing fires across the west have produced very poor and unhealthy air quality due to the large amounts of wildfire smoke, consequently, dense smoke advisories and air quality alerts are posted over the Pacific Northwest, and parts of northern California.
