A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for tonight through early Friday morning. Snow levels will fall tonight to around 2,000 feet. Some snow may accumulate as low 2,000 feet.
The Warning is for high terrain roads including those near Oregon Caves. The Advisory is for Eastern Curry County and Josephine County to include Highway 199 at Hayes Hill, Obrien, and Sexton Pass on Interstate 5.
A Winter Storm Warning has also been issued January 24 at 2:54 PM expiring January 25 at 10:00 PM by the National Weather Service.
A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is likely and poses a threat to life and property. A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties.
Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions. If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.
Heavy snow above 2500 feet is expected in Eastern Curry County and Josephine County. Snow is expected above 1500 feet. Travel is expected to be very difficult to impossible above 2500 feet, with total snow accumulations of 8 to 16 inches. Above 1500 feet but below 2500 feet, total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are expected.
Look for significant reductions in visibility at times. Snow levels may increase to 2000 to 2500 Thursday afternoon, but confidence in this is only moderate.
