At approximately 5:30 AM Sunday, October 15, Harbor Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Hamilton Lane off of Oceanview Drive.
Fire Chief John Brazil was first to arrive on the scene between 5:35 AM and 5:40 AM. At that time Chief Brazil states that the entire left side of the structure was fully involved and that he applied foam fire retardant to the vehicle just feet from the structure.
The structure is considered a total loss and there were no injuries.
Two Harbor engine companies and 8 firefighters responded and were later aided by one engine and 4 firefighters from the Brookings Fire Department.
Chief Brazil stated that 3 individuals were occupying the structure at the time and were not injured.
The Fire crews contained the fire to the initial building, saving the adjacent detached garage, the vehicle, and other neighboring structures just feet away.
Harbor Fire Chief Brazil, and Sheriff Deputy Gardner and fire officials stated the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is currently under investigation.
