Friday morning August 30th, just after 8:15am, a Medford couple left their house to go on a walk, leaving their garage door open. When they returned, they found a male in their garage, stealing a gas can.
The suspect told them he needed gas for his car parked around the corner. Before Medford Police could arrive on scene, the male suspect fled on foot. The suspect was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
The suspects vehicle was subsequently searched where authorities found what appeared to be an old hand grenade. Oregon State Police Bomb Squad responded and took possession of it. That part remains under investigation.
The suspect, Sean Hodgkins, 24 years old, was arrested for Burglary 1st Degree, Theft 3rd Degree and a Probation Violation for Possession of Methamphetamine.
