According to a Monday afternoon, March 24th press release from Gold Beach Police Chief Joel Hensly, it was reported by a citizen late Saturday evening, March 22nd, that the Gold Beach Market in Gold Beach had been robbed “by a man with a rifle” at approximately 10:30pm.
The Gold Beach Police Department was immediately dispatched and upon first responders arrival, Officers were able to establish a suspect description and a vehicle description.

After interviewing a witness and reviewing video surveillance, Officers were able to identify the suspect as a 26 year old white male resident of Gold Beach.
An immediate search for the suspect and vehicle was initiated and as the search progressed Officers were informed that a male was in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office, turning himself in for the reported robbery.
Officers responded to the Sheriff’s Office and arrested the suspect, identified as Gold Beach resident Elias Hathaway.
Hathaway was subsequently charged with Robbery and Menacing and booked into the Curry County Jail.
