In what has been a difficult summer break for the Gold Beach High School football program, as the Class of 2020 school year loomed, tough decisions had to be made.
On Monday the coaches had initially made a decision to move to 8 man football for the safety of players involved and were working to setup a new season with other schools playing at that level. A growing concern among coaches was the distance in travel that many of these games would have represented as well as how much school our student athletes would have missed.
With recent new students registering, and additional students deciding to join the football team, the coaches were satisfied that they could safely and responsibly field an 11 man team for football on our original schedule!
Friday night lights will still be on for the Panthers, come join them at their first non-league game at Brookings-Harbor on Friday September 6th, followed by their first home game on September 13th against Illinois Valley.
Go Panthers!
