On Thursday morning, May 30th, the Illinois Valley Fire District responded to a trash fire located at the transfer station on Kirby Mainline.
Southern Oregon Sanitation employees found one of their semi-trailers that they use to haul trash in flames. They immediately called 911 and then connected and started using their fire suppression system.
Upon arrival, Illinois Valley Fire District doused the fire with thousands of gallons of water. Illinois Valley Fire District used their tender 8941 that holds 3,000 gallons of water.
Southern Oregon Sanitation estimates the cost to replace the trailer to be approximately $100,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
