Beginning Monday, August 5th, Route 197 north of Crescent City in Del Norte County will be fully closed from about 2.8 to 3.2 miles from the 101 junction from August 5 through August 15.
Necessary drainage repairs will be underway. Because Route 199 is available as a detour it was decided that a full closure was more favorable instead of one-way traffic control. The decision shaved nine weeks of traffic impacts off the project and saving taxpayers over $1.5 million dollars.
Residents will still be able to access their driveways from both endpoints of Route 197.
