Four young people are lucky after their vehicle rolled near Mungers Butte just before 10:30pm, Friday, August 14th. The vehicle lost control on the remote gravel road and tumbled approximately 75′ down the embankment into the trees. At least one occupant was reportedly ejected.

Rescue crews from Rural Metro Fire, American Medical Response and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office used a rope system to retrieve one patient. The other three walked out on their own.

Two denied injury, while the others were taken by ground ambulances to Three Rivers Hospital with moderate injuries. A Mercy Flights helicopter was requested, but it flew in and staged near Lincoln Savage Middle School until released.
The incident is under investigation by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.
