In a joint media release between the Fortuna Police Department and Fortuna High School Wednesday afternoon, on Tuesday afternoon, October 22nd, Fortuna Police Department and Fortuna High School received information of a possible plot between two Fortuna High School students to harm other students at Fortuna High School.
The two students were quickly detained including information found on their persons, indicating validity to the original report. The two students were taken into custody and are currently being held in Juvenile Hall.
Officers served search warrants at both of the juvenile suspect’s residences and are actively investigating the matter.
Both the Fortuna Police Department and Fortuna High School are confident that there were no other subjects involved in the alleged plot, and that there is no risk to the safety of students at Fortuna High School.
The Fortuna Police Department and Fortuna High School have an excellent working relationship and take the safety and security of students and school staff very seriously.
As this involves juveniles, Fortuna Police Department and Fortuna High School will not be releasing any names to the public.
The Fortuna Police Department will release more information as the case develops.
