Well, I hope the BHHS Bruin class of 2021 athletes are paying attention, because this weeks Les Schwab ‘Star Student Athlete’ selection has set the bar high.
Jair Valdovinos #13, played striker for Coach Jess Beaman and the repeat 3A/2A/1A-SD4 champion Bruin soccer team as a varsity starter for 2 years.
While establishing himself as an offensive force to be reckoned with league wide, Jair became an integral part of the Bruins offensive dominance and success.
Talking with BHHS varsity soccer Coach Jess Beaman, he told the Wild Coast Compass that after working hard in the off season, Jair became a confident player and assumed the leadership role on the team as captain that led by example with smart and fearless play.” coach Beaman said.
Aside from participating on a team that repeated as 3A/2A/1A-SD4 Champions, the list of achievements accumulated by Jair during his senior year is as impressive as it is long.
After leading the 3A/2A/1A-SD4 league in scoring putting the ball in the back of the net 34 times for over a 1/4 of all Bruin scoring in the 2019 season not counting the 13 assists.
These feats garnered Jair the 3A/2A/1A-SD4 2019 league Most Valuable Player as striker, as well as First Team All-League honors all while maintaining a GPA that helped the team reach the OnPoint Academic All-State honors.
Congratulations Jair, and we you wish great success as you continue your soccer career at Lane College .
