Firefighters Rescue Dog from Steep River Bank

Grants Pass Fire Rescue responded to the 900 block of W Park Street to assist in rescuing a dog that had gone over the steep riverbank into thick blackberries.

Eng. Adamo walked a steep narrow trail through thick blackberries to get to the 16-year-old yellow lab Sadie. She was exhausted but otherwise in good shape. Other crew members were preparing a rope system to retrieve Sadie.

Once Sadie was out of the blackberries, a drift boat was passing by and offered to transport her to Reinhart Park where a city parks employee cared for Sadie until her owners could drive around and pick her up.

Grants Pass Fire Rescue would like to thank the private boater and the Grants Pass Parks Department for working with our team to bring Sadie safely back to her family.
