At approximately 6:45 PM Tuesday evening, Medford Fire-Rescue, Fire District 3 crews and Rural Metro Fire were assisted by Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Rogue River Fire, Applegate Valley Fire District & Illinois Valley Fire District were dispatched to a two-alarm fire at the Timber Products plant on Sage Rd in Medford.
When fire crews arrived on the scene, the fire was located in the raw materials building and appears to have been spread throughout other portions of the building by an upper conveyor belt system. The initial portions of the blaze were controlled within the first few hours, however, the fire proved to be more difficult as the flames snaked into remote areas of the building fueled by sawdust accumulations.
The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation, no injuries were reported and an estimate on damage has not been determined.
