On Friday evening, December 29th, Josephine County 911 received numerous reports of a structure fire in the 1500 block of Placer Road. Rural Metro dispatched 5 fire units along with engines from Wolf Creek Rural Fire Protection District and Grants Pass Department of Public Safety to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved 2 story residence with flames climbing 4 large trees and an actively arcing powerline hindering access.
Neighbors reported the structure had been vacant, however, transients had been seen in and around the building prior to the fire. There were no injuries reported, and the cause is currently undetermined.
