Monday evening, February 25th, just before 10:30 pm, the Illinois Valley Fire District responded to a Structure Fire on Rough and Ready Rd.
The single-story house was totally engulfed in flames at the time of the call. A long narrow rough dirt road made access difficult. The flames were quickly knocked down by the engine and crew from Illinois Valley Fire District station 3 located in O’Brien.
Both occupants of the house were able to exit, however American Medical Response transported one of them to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center with burns on her hands.
Assistance was provided to the firefighters by the Illinois Valley Fire District Rehab unit. Rural Metro moved a unit up to Illinois Valley Fire District station 1 to cover the valley.
The fire is under investigation by Illinois Valley Fire District Fire Marshal.
