Very early Wednesday morning, September 23rd, fire crews from Illinois Valley Fire District and Rural Metro Fire were dispatched at 3:00am to a major structure fire on Caves Highway.

Upon arrival, units found a fully involved structure with visible flames. The fire had spread to surrounding wildland and extended to the nearby vehicles before fire crews brought the blaze under control.

The fire was determined to be not related to the Happy Camp/Slater Fire that has been burning since early September. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
