Around 6 PM Friday evening, December 29th, #FD3 in White City was dispatched to a structure fire on the 8300 block of Atlantic Avenue in White City. When engines arrived, the back of the house was heavily involved with fire. Crews worked quickly and started a transitional attack, flowing water from outside of the house. Crews then transitioned inside the residence to conduct a primary search for occupants.
Fortunately, there was a fire hydrant within 100 feet of the home allowing quick access to water supply. Fire crews quickly managed the fire taking about 5 minutes to knock down the flames.
The 8300 block of Atlantic Avenue was closed due to heavy fire traffic. Residents may still see smoke for a number of hours as crews continue to conduct overhaul operations.
The cause of the fire is unknown and a fire investigator has been assigned to the fire and is on the scene now.
#FD3, Medford Fire-Rescue, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office all assisted in the incident.
