The state of Oregon continues to see fewer COVID-19 cases for its fifth consecutive week. In the previous week, Oregon saw only 1,264 new cases statewide, down 344 cases with again 8 fewer deaths in the past seven days. Currently the state has 28,865 total COVID-19 cases and 499 deaths as of Friday, September 11th.
Governor Kate Brown announced Thursday afternoon, September 11th, that both Jackson and Jefferson Counties have succeeded in reducing the spread of COVID-19 sufficiently enough to be removed from the County Watch List. The complete ‘County Watch List’ is now down to just 3 counties including Malheur, Morrow, and Umatilla Counties.
In addition, the Governor announced that Umatilla County has met the prerequisites to move to Phase 2, effectively immediately. Over the past two weeks from August, 23rd to September 5th, Umatilla County has had a total of 252 cases for a case rate of 310.5 per 100,000 people. Over the past two weeks, 17% of cases could not be traced to a known source, and the county has averaged 18 cases per day.
We continue to see the same 5 northern Oregon counties of Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah, Umatilla, and Washington continue to comprise 68% of all of the state of Oregon’s cases adding 822 of the states 1,264 cases in these counties alone. In the past week these 5 counties now report 19,608 of the states 28,865 total COVID-19 cases as well as 72% of the state’s deaths from COVID-19 reporting 361 of the states 499 reported deaths.
Curry County reported that it now has 5 active cases of COVID-19 while the county has reported testing 1,515 individuals, with 1,490 negative tests, 20 recovered cases and 0 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, September 11th.
Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 8,129 individuals with 129 cases, 5 active cases, 1 new positive case reported to Public Health, with 3 current hospitalizations and 1 death.
Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports adding 32 new CoVID-19 cases in the past week after testing 25,767 individuals with now 447 total cases, 60 active cases, 382 recoveries, 26 hospitalizations and 5 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, September 11th.
Coos County to the north, reported testing 6,107 individuals with 5,920 negative tests, adding 8 new cases in the past week with now 131 total positive cases adding 8 new cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, with 25 recoveries and 0 deaths.
Josephine County reports testing 10,836 individuals with 10,690 negative results, 174 total positive cases of COVID-19 of which 104 are recovered cases, and 2 deaths.
Jackson County continues to see significant increases after reporting another 79 cases of COVID-19 this past week after testing 30,480 individuals with 29,621 negative test results, 943 total cases of COVID-19, 275 recovered cases and 3 deaths as of Friday September 11th.
