Family Feared Trapped in Structure Fire

Rural Metro Fire, along with units from AMR-Josephine County, Grants Pass Department of Public Safety & Oregon Department of Forestry Southwest Oregon District, were dispatched by Josephine County 911 to a well-involved structure.

Battalion 5, and RM Engine 7504 from the Wilderville Station, arrived quickly and were informed the residents were unaccounted for and may be trapped inside. This prompted the 2nd alarm, summoning additional units from GP Fire and Illinois Valley Fire District, and ultimately mobilizing a total force of 17 units on scene.

The fire was quickly knocked down, reducing spread into the wooded neighborhood, and firefighters immediately transitioned to an interior search looking for the occupants. Approximately 1 hour into the incident the occupants returned home, proving that they, nor their dogs, were injured. Cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The 2nd alarm also brought in units from Applegate Valley Fire District, Rogue River Fire District, and Wolf Creek Rural Fire Protection District to help handle other emergencies in the area.

Rural Metro greatly appreciates the support and relief received from these surrounding departments, as part of the comprehensive Rogue Valley Mutual Aid System, especially during what is rapidly becoming a relentless fire season.
