The California Highway Patrol reported Thursday, that two people driving on Hwy. 199 just east of Crescent City were killed when a tree struck their vehicle just before noon Thursday, March 25th.
Multiple first responding agencies arrived to a scene of a very large redwood tree that had fallen from the east side of Hwy. 199 directly on top of a 2016 Honda, completely crushing the passenger compartment.
The 36 year old male driver and 45 year old female passenger both from Yreka, California, suffered fatal injuries and the incident remains under investigation.
