Early Saturday morning, Rural Metro Fire & Grants Pass Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a flue fire that had spread into the attic of a residence just after 6:00am.
Fire Units arrived to find the attic of a two story structure well-involved in fire. All occupants and pets were able to exit safely due to numerous working smoke alarms located throughout the home.
After halting the fire’s spread, crews worked to throw protective tarps over contents and conduct extensive mop-up. Cable-heating wires in the ceiling created an entanglement issue as crews worked in rooms where the ceiling had fallen.
Closed interior doors were instrumental in limiting smoke and heat damage to several rooms. American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the family with accommodations.
