Early Thursday morning October 10, just after 1:00am, the Illinois Valley Fire District responded to a Structure Fire in the 4000 block of Deer Creek Rd. Rural Metro also responded and joined Illinois Valley Fire in extinguishing the fire.
A large metal drying barn full of crop was engulfed in flames at the time of the call to 911. No one and no animals were in the barn at the time of the fire.
Pacific Power responded and disconnected the power to the barn for the protection of the firefighters. Illinois Valley Fire CERT responded and filled air bottles and provided traffic control. Illinois Valley Fire rehab responded and provided services for the firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the IVFD Fire Marshal.
