While two Coos County Deputies and a Bandon Police Officer were conducting a DUII investigation in the Bandon area during the strong windstorm, on Wednesday evening, December 26th, both Deputies and the individual involved in the DUII investigation experienced quickly generating wind gusts.
The driver of the involved vehicle, and both Deputies were outside their vehicles when the winds quickly picked up causing several trees to fall.
The falling trees struck them all, including the patrol vehicles, causing substantial vehicle damage.
The involved subject was knocked unconscious by a fallen tree, and both Deputies were also hit and injured. The Deputies then quickly moved towards the unconscious subject, moving him quickly to safety and began first-aid treatment.
Emergency Medical Services responded to render additional aid and both the unconscious subject and law enforcement received medical treatment on scene and at Bay Area Hospital.
