According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, late Saturday afternoon, January 13th, Special Services deputies were dispatched to assist a homeowner with an evacuation due to flooding near Myrtletown.
Deputies were unable to access the residence due to rising water levels upon arrival of first responding deputies. Deputies deployed a Zodiac Raft and traversed the flooded roadway about one mile to the residence.
When deputies arrived, they discovered nearly four feet of water had flooded around and into the residence, and was continuing to rise.
Deputies were able to safely evacuate two adults, a one-month-old infant, and a pet cat. None of the occupants were injured during the flooding or evacuation.
