Del Norte High Put in Lockdown After Firearm Threat

A district wide lock down of the Del Norte School District was implemented Tuesday afternoon, October 15th, just after 1:00pm after reports that students had seen another student with a possible gun.

Immediately a district wide lock-down of the Del Norte School District took place and students and staff were sheltering in place.

Units from the Crescent City Police Department, Del Norte Sheriff’s Office, and the Del Norte Probation and Parks searched the area and the suspect was located and arrested.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the gun was in fact not a real firearm. Allegations related to brandishing a replica firearm and criminal threats are being investigated.

When the suspect was located and placed in custody, District personnel then lifted the District lock-down and resume normal activities.

No injuries or other issues were reported by the schools.
