The Del Norte County Sheriff’s office has received multiple contacts from people seeking confirmation about information posted on Facebook regarding an outbreak of the (COVID-19) Coronavirus.
It had been falsely reported on social media that a local convalescent facility was on lock-down due to exposure of the virus.
The Del Norte County Sheriff’s office contacted the facility and confirmed that the information posted on social media to be inaccurate.
The facility is in a lock-down situation as a safety precaution only at this time due to the vulnerability of patients having compromised immune systems.
There are no patients diagnosed with the coronavirus at the facility and the precautionary measures being taken are proactive.
According to the information released by the Del Norte County Sheriff’s office late Monday, March 2nd, there is no indication of anyone with COVID-19 in Del Norte County at this time.
