On Friday afternoon March 27th, the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors declared a Local Health Emergency in Del Norte County after concerns that California Governor Newsom’s ‘Stay at Home’ directive that went into effect Thursday March 19th was not being observed.

The Del Norte County Local Health Officer confirmed that continued influxes of visitors increases the likelihood of the spread of the COVID-19 virus after significant numbers of out of county visitors continue to travel to the coast despite the ‘Stay at Home’ directive.
Del Norte Public Health Officer, Dr. Warren Rehwaldt ordered a declaration effective Friday, March 27th, 2020 at 5:00pm that all businesses that provide short term stays including hotels/motels, RV parks and private campgrounds, and similar lodging or housing shall not provide sleeping accommodations to any person for a period of less than 30 days, unless they have an exemption to the order due to COVID-19.
