Del Norte County Received Approval from the State of California to begin reopening On May 14th, 2020. Del Norte County then submitted a state-mandated local variance plan and attestation for businesses and organizations affected in the Stage Two categories in an effort to open at a quicker pace than the rest of the state.

Late Friday afternoon, May 15th, the state approved the variance, verifying that Del Norte County has met the criteria required by the state to begin Stage 2 opening procedures.
The state determines which businesses will open in each stage. The following Stage Two businesses are now allowed to open with COVID-19 Operations Plans in place and after meeting the COVID-19 mitigation measures:
Clothing Stores
Thrift Stores
Furniture Stores
Auto Dealership
Childcare
Golf Courses
Public Parks, non-congregate portions and trails
Office-Based Businesses, though telework is still encouraged whenever possible
Limited Services of landscape gardening, pet grooming, and tanning facilities
Dine-In Restaurants
All businesses must have a written COVID-19 Operations Plan to mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Del Norte County has developed a template and document of best practices for businesses to use.
At this time, it is unknown how long Stage Two will last or when a transition to Stage Three can proceed legally and safely.
