The Curry County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff John Ward is warning Curry County residents that the Sheriff’s Office has been getting calls from residents who have been receiving phone calls from individuals that claim to be from their office number at the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.
The caller portrays themselves as a “Deputy Kris Bishop” from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office and states that there is a warrant for recipients arrest. They are instructed to purchase a prepaid card and send the money to keep from going to jail.
THIS IS A SCAM. The Curry County Sheriff’s Office does not call people and demand money due to a warrant. If there is a warrant for someone, a Deputy will arrive and make an arrest. The Curry County Sheriff’s Office does not call first, or demand any money over the phone.
