A Fundraising Concert to benefit Curry Coast Community Radio will be held Tuesday, November 28th, 5:30 PM at the Chetco Grange Hall. The event features live musical performances, pizza, beverages, and recognition of community volunteers and the non-profits they serve.
Popular local musical acts include Frank John Colli, “Frankie C” and Troy Spence Jr. who perform as an electric/acoustic duo called Nite Moves. They play rock and country with a little blues and jazz thrown in. Steve Harrington performs solo, covering a great selection of soft rock from the 70’s and a variety of original tunes. Cameron McVay, a member of popular local band Second Bridge will also perform solo, bringing his unique acoustic guitar and vocal stylings to the genres of rock, Americana, and blues.
KCIW’s November 28 Fundraising Concert coincides with #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media. #GivingTuesday was launched to counterbalance the rampant consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Held the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season with a special focus on philanthropy, non-profit organizations, and volunteerism.
In the spirit of the “season of giving”, the event is free to Curry County volunteers and disabled folks. Volunteer attendees are encouraged to announce the name of their non-profit upon entry for free admission. Their organization will be recognized during the event. General admission cost is $10.
Curry Coast Community Radio is an Oregon non-profit, non-commercial community-focused radio station, operated entirely by unpaid volunteers. We broadcast from Brookings, Oregon, with the call sign KCIW at 100.7 FM “on the dial”, and a selection of our locally-produced programming can be heard on our website, KCIW.ORG, and as podcasts on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, and TuneIn Radio. KCIW depends on financial contributions from our community. All contributions are tax deductible. There will be a KCIW information table staffed with show hosts who will share programming information, membership brochures, volunteer opportunities, bumper stickers, and more.
KCIW is excited to be reaching out to the community with this benefit concert and looks forward to meeting many new community radio enthusiasts.
