After a 73 hour pre-soak, and based on meat recovery with all areas tested meeting criteria after round-one of preseason testing that began November 28th, commercial crab crews are heading out of port to begin a commercial crab season on time for the first time in many years.
In consultation with the Oregon Department of Agriculture and California and Washington fishery managers, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has set the Oregon ocean commercial Dungeness crab season coastwide to officially begin with vessels pulling their first traps at 9:00am, December 1st.
Safe trips, and full pots.
