The Crescent City Police Department was assisted by the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office Monday late Monday afternoon February 17th, reports of a man with a gun at the Surf Apartments on H Street in Crescent City at approximately 4:30pm.
According to information from the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, “During the response a Law Enforcement Officer discharged his weapon. An Adult male was confirmed deceased at the scene by a Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Coroner.”
A team from the Sacramento area California Highway Patrol has been requested by both the Crescent City Police Chief and the Del Norte County Sheriff to investigate the incident.
Further details cannot be released at this time due to the status of the pending investigation.
“We will do all that we can to release further details of this investigation,” Sheriff Scott stated, “once we are absolutely sure the information would not jeopardize a complete investigation by the California Highway Patrol investigative team.
