According to information released by the Yurok Tribe Police Department, due to low staffing levels the Yurok Tribe Police Department has been assisting the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office with shift coverages.
At approximately 6:00am Monday morning, while conducting an arrest of a warrant subject that was in the possession of drugs, a Yurok Tribe Police officer inadvertently came into contact with a powdery substance.
The officer became dizzy and fell unconscious. The Crescent City Police Department administered NARCAN before the officer was transported to the hospital and was subsequently treated for Fentanyl exposure and discharged, and is reportedly in good condition.
When interacting with unknown substances be extremely cautious as they can cause an overdose quickly, even through an aerosolized powder.
