Crescent City Police Cyber Investigations Unit Arrests One After Service of Warrant

A Cyber Crimes Search Warrant was served by the Crescent City Police Department Cyber Investigations Unit, with assistance from CDCR Pelican Bay CRT and K9 teams, at an address on Railroad Avenue in the Crescent City area Thursday, July 11th.

Digital evidence was recovered during the Crescent City Police Department Cyber Investigations Unit implementation of the search warrant, along with interview statements that led to the arrest of an individual for possession and distribution of child pornography.

It was also discovered by investigators that the individual, identified as 42 year old Loyd Sheppard, and another resident, 45 year old Julie Sanderson, were engaging in bestiality, sexual contact, with dogs that were at the residence. The dogs at the residence were seized by officers of the Del Norte County Sheriffs Office Animal Control.

A juvenile child was also removed from the residence and taken into protective custody by Del Norte County Child Welfare Services.

The investigation is still ongoing and digital evidence is still being reviewed. The case will be forwarded for review to the Del Norte County District Attorney, with recommendation of charging both Sanderson and Sheppard with sexual contact with an animal, and Sheppard with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Loyd Sheppard Sheppard was booked at the Del Norte County Jail.
