Crescent City Police Arrest Man Brandishing a Bat and Making Threats Before Assaulting Officers

Crescent City Police Department Officers were dispatched to a report of a subject brandishing a bat and making threats towards people in the area of the cemetery Friday, June 17th.

Officers located a subject in possession of a bat and what appeared to be a handgun in the side of his backpack at the scene upon arrival.

The subject, later identified as 35 year old Brady McConaghy was initially held at gunpoint until Officers were able to detain him in handcuffs.

During their investigation Officers discovered that while brandishing the baseball bat, McConaghy had made credible threats towards several people, however, the item that appeared to be a handgun, was determined to be made out of wood.

McConaghy was then arrested for Criminal Threats, and while being placed in the back of a patrol car he spit on one officer. As Officers were placing a spit guard on McConaghy, he then bit one officer in the hand.

Additional charges of obstructing/resisting a peace officer, and battery on a Peace Officer were added to the Criminal Threats charge, and McConaghy was then booked in the Del Norte County Jail.
