According to the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, on Sunday October 4th, while conducting a surveillance operation in the parking lot of a business in Trinidad, special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force observed 45 year old James Waltrip from Crescent City leave the parking lot as a passenger in a vehicle.
Waltrip, who is on active Post Release Community Supervision Probation out of Del Norte County, was contacted, with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department agents after the vehicle he was riding in stopped at a business on Main St. in Trinidad.
Agents then conducted a probation search of the vehicle locating 4 pounds of methamphetamine wrapped in individual one pound bags underneath Waltrip’s feet on the passengers side floorboard. Waltrip admitted to purchasing the methamphetamine for $3700 per pound, equaling $14,800.
Due to Waltrip recovering from a major injury suffered during a recent traffic collision and the injury requiring additional medical treatment, agents did not place Waltrip under arrest.
The Humboldt County Drug Task Force will be forwarding charges of Possession of methamphetamine for sale, Transportation of methamphetamine and Probation Violation to the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office and the Del Norte County Probation Department.
