Very early Sunday morning, June 10th, an Officer of the Crescent City Police department conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Northcrest Drive and Hoover Avenue in Crescent City.
During the stop, K9 officer Kai was deployed on the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics.
After the K9 alerted, officers conducted a search of the vehicle which yielded approximately 10.8 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 1.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, packaging material and over $800.00 in US currency.
As a result of the search, 35-year-old Fernando H. Castro, the driver, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance for sales, DUI and other charges.
