Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative has issued their first-ever rebate to over 14,000 members of the cooperative who received power in 2017. They announced this exciting news in the April Ruralite magazine and checks are reaching mailboxes this week.
As a nonprofit cooperative, CCEC is governed locally by a Board of Directors who are also cooperative members.
Each year your board adopts a budget to cover projected costs to provide safe reliable power with just enough revenue to meet banking requirements and unforeseen expenses. In 2017 when much colder weather than usual impacted our region causing members to use more energy they ended with higher than expected revenue.
Your board decided to provide a revenue reduction rebated of about $2.5 million to members that purchased electricity from us in 2017. Rebate amounts vary and are based on the amount of energy a member used in 2017.
