Curry County Commissioner Court Boice has put together another fun outing for Curry Veterans. In full support, Jerry’s Jets has again offered to donate a special boat for the 64-mile Rogue River Vets Tour! Boice will repeat as Pilot and donate his time! He is the son of U.S. Marine Allen Boice, the famous Curry ‘River Rogue Sheriff’ (60’s and 70’s) and also the Grandson of the longest serving Curry County Commissioner of all time – Allen Boice, Sr. (18 years …1930-1948). Court was born in Gold Beach and has been an active Curry Community Member. In his career, he has logged over 10,000 guest and freight trips into the Rogue Wilderness by White Water Jet Boat – No road access. Throughout the 70’s to present, Commissioner Boice has been credited with many river rescues from his remote Lodge at Paradise and Blossom Bar.
Court stated “The U.S. Draft ended in July of 1972, so I missed that and what was likely Vietnam service by a thread. There is no one that owes more than me and this is just one way I can give back to those who served. The first Vets River Trip last month was one of the highest honors of my life.” Boice added, “Jerry’s Jets, the McNair Family, Curry Veteran groups and I are hopeful these trips will start a great annual tradition”…He concluded “We’ll be accepting donations from people who want to contribute to this event.” Proceeds will go to our Curry Kids!
Please share this opportunity with a Vet who may need a chance or even a little encouragement to brave the ‘white water’ make plans and enjoy this fun River Jet Excursion. There are many in our County that could use some Wild Rogue therapy, so ask them or their reps to contact Curry County Commissioner Court Boice at boicec@co.curry.or.us to be added as space allows. The boat can accommodate fifty, so Vets will need to book as early as possible and then reconfirm Thursday, August 22nd. This is a Curry County event, so with a Veterans population exceeding 4,000 – we’ve been advised to hold for just our local Vets on this run.
Check in time is 2:30pm at Jerry’s Jets Boat Office — Port of Gold Beach; departure time is at 3:00pm. Dinner available at the Agness Cougar Lane Restaurant for a great barbecue ($15) or snacks also available at the C.L. Country Store. The river tour lasts approximately six hours.
Vets for Kids – Great gratitude to all those who help and care for our Veterans!
