Tuesday evening November 28th, a resident of Depoe Bay noticed that a dog was stranded on a rock in the creek adjacent to the Coast Guard station that drained into the ocean. Boatswain Mates Jason Steinmetz and Simey Luevano quickly dressed out into dry suits and entered the creek.
With the incoming tide, the dog had but a few minutes before being overcome by the cold water of the rising tide and swept out to sea. Due to the swift actions of the crew, the dog was able to be brought to shore safely and reunited with his grateful owner.
