Coast Guard Assists Commercial Fishing Vessel with 7 hour Tow

A 47 ft. Motor Life Boat crew launched very early Saturday morning to assist a commercial fishing vessel approximately 20 miles North of the Coos Bay Bar.

At approximately 12:40am the Motor Life Boat crew was dispatched to assist the disabled F/V MANANA approximately 20 miles North of the Coos Bay Bar after their rudder had become jammed hard over.

Upon arrival it was determined that the rudder situation would only allow the Coast Guard to tow the disabled vessel at approximately 3-4 knots.

Both vessels arrived safely at the Charleston Marina just over 7 hours later at approximately 8:00am, and the F/V MANANA was safely moored to the pier.
