Clear Skies and Cold Temperatures Could Affect Travel Late in the Holiday Weekend

An upper level ridge of high pressure is forecast to push a more stable air mass across the northwest coast through the holiday and into the weekend, however, much colder temperatures could impact holiday travel with freezing temperatures expected at higher passes.

Inland areas are forecast to see mostly clear to partly cloudy skies and cold temperatures Thanksgiving Day through the holiday travel weekend with freezing temperatures possibly dipping into the low 20’s across the highest elevations. Areas of localized fog are possible as colder air moves in with high temperatures in the low 50’s with early morning temperatures getting into the low to upper 20’s.

Coastal areas are expected to see a clear skies and cool temperatures Thanksgiving Day with a light breeze of less than 10 mph continuing through the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to be in the mid 50’s for afternoon highs with areas of localized fog possible cooling to the mid to upper 30’s to low 40’s as cool air moves onshore into the weekend.
