On Thursday, January 3rd, just after 1:40 pm, an alert citizen saw a suspect, later determined to be Jeffery Aaron Moore, standing over the victim lying on the ground, going through his pockets in an apartment complex in Medford.
As the citizen approached, the suspect fled and ultimately threw the victim’s cell phone that he had just stolen. The citizen tackled the suspect to the ground and held him until Medford Police Officers arrived on scene.
The investigation revealed that Moore struck the victim from behind after he saw a cell phone in the victim’s hand. He stole the phone and was rummaging through his pockets when the citizen intervened.
Moore was under the influence, and also in possession of methamphetamine. The 50-year-old victim, who is partially blind, sustained a head injury when he hit the ground, but is expected to recover.
Jeffrey Moore, 24 years old, is facing charges of Robbery, Assault, Harassment, Possession of Meth, and Disorderly Conduct.
