The second Chetco Bar salvage sale (Snaketooth) to remove roadside danger trees sold on July 12, 2018. The sale was sold to CLR Timber Holdings (South Coast Lumber) for $292,000 for 3.9 MMBF (million board feet) of timber. Part of the proceeds of the sale, $164,000 will be utilized for forest restoration work.
“We are pleased to offer our second roadside danger tree sale for the Chetco Bar Fire. This was an all-hands approach with extra staff brought in to assist with making these trees available for harvest in a timely manner. We’ll continue to use a portion of the sale proceeds towards much needed forest restoration work,” said Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest Supervisor Merv George Jr.
The next roadside danger tree salvage sale (Mineral), which contains approximately 4.9 MMBF, is anticipated to be advertised July 16 2018 and to sell the week of July 31, 2018. The advertised price has not been determined at this time.
The Basin fire salvage sale, the first sale offered under the Chetco Bar Area Salvage Environmental Assessment (EA) Decision Notice, is expected to be advertised before the end of July.
