On Wednesday afternoon, just after 4:00 pm, a man wearing a black mask, black zipper style hoodie, a light and dark colored shirt, blue jeans, and gloves walked into the First Community Credit Union located at 309 Highway 199 in Cave Junction and demanded money.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded after the 911 call was received reporting that the bank had just been robbed. The Sheriff was assisted by the Oregon State Police Major Crime Team and secured the bank while searching the immediate area for the single male subject.
Interviews were conducted with bank employees and one bank customer who witnessed the robbery. During the course of the preliminary investigation, it was determined that a lone masked male suspect that approached a bank teller demanded money, and an undisclosed amount of money was taken by the suspect who then fled the bank on foot. No weapon was displayed during the incident.
Security cameras located throughout the bank recorded the entire incident, providing a detailed description of the suspects clothing. The suspect has not been located after an extensive search of Cave Junction and the surrounding areas.
