The Crescent City Area of the California Highway Patrol would like to clarify a few circulating questions and hopefully put the motoring public at ease.
The California / Oregon borders remain open with no discussion of closing them in the near future. Motorists are free to travel from state to state as you see fit. However, in an effort to preserve the public health and safety of all Californians, we hope that everyone will self-regulate their behavior and stay home, protect themselves, and venture out for only the “essential” activities, while maintaining social distancing.
California Highway Patrol officers across the state are not making enforcement stops simply to ask motorists why they are on the road and issuing citations to those they feel did not provide a valid reason. Officers will still be enforcing traffic laws and may contact motorists if they observe a violation.
If you have any questions or need clarification on information you are hearing, please feel free to contact our office at (707) 218-2000. We will do our best to provide you with the most updated information or direct you to where you can get your questions answered.
We appreciate all the help and support we have received from the community during these unprecedented times and we will continue to serve you and do all we can to keep our communities safe.
