Officers with the California Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop early Friday, November 25th, on a Black Dodge Durango near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Lafayette Way in Crescent City.
During the traffic stop California Highway Patrol Officers called for Crescent City Police Department K9 LT. Kai to conduct a free air “sniff” of the vehicle. LT. Kai alerted officers to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.
Officers from California Highway Patrol and the Crescent City Police Department then located 34.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun in the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 30 year old Ty Barker, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a hand gun, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances for sales, and transportation of controlled substances for sales.
