According to a press release by the Humboldt County Drug Task Force on May 23rd, Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol, conducted a traffic stop in Eureka.
The Humboldt County Drug Task Force had previously obtained a search warrant for a vehicle that was being driven by 41-year-old Nathan Kohler Toews of Eureka. The vehicle was also occupied by 37-year-old Jennifer Louise Burr also from Eureka.
During a multi-week investigation, agents received information that Jennifer Burr was involved in the illegal sales of prescription narcotics. During a search of the vehicle agents located nearly an ounce of suspected cocaine, digital scales, packaging material, two firearms, and dozens of illegally possessed pills.
Agents then served a search warrant at Burr’s residence. Inside Burr’s residence agents located thousands of pills, hundreds of hypodermic needles, and multiple firearms. Agents also contacted a juvenile at this location and released him to the custody of Child Welfare Services for his safety.
Burr and Toews were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for possession of controlled substances for sales and weapons violations. Due to Toews current medical condition, he was released from the jail and his involvement in this investigation will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
