To say that the Brookings-Harbor boys varsity soccer team is ‘dominating’ would be an understatement. Tuesday evening, the Bruins recorded their sixth straight shutout in league play.
The Bruins have dominated teams in league play from the opening whistle to the final whistle in virtually every contest. Aside from almost every game being played in the opponents half of the field, the Bruins have scored 53 points in 6 games, averaging almost 9 points per game.
Aside from the overwhelming offense, it is hard to tell who is having a better season, the offense or the defense. In the same span of games where the offense has scored 53 goals, the defense has not allowed a single point, serving up 6 straight league shutouts.
Tuesday evening was no exception. After being held to just 6 points in their last game after scoring only 2 in the first half, the Bruins scored their first point just 3 minutes and 36 seconds into the match against the Red Devils. Sophomore forward Rylan Bruce #5 started the scoring just 3 minutes into the game when he took advantage of a loose ball in front of the goal. Just 10 minutes later, senior forward Luke Beaman drove the ball into the goal box and crossed the ball to Rylan Bruce who was crashing the far post and pounded the ball past the keeper.
From that point on, the offense scored literally every 4 minutes as senior striker Luke Beaman #13, finished off a shot after rebounding off the Red Devil Keeper, sophomore defender Aden Carpenter #15 then blistered the back of the net from the top of the box just 4 minutes later, Jake Beamnan #2 received the pass from senior defender Zach Carlson and found the net, followed by his brother, senior Luke Beaman firing from the top of the box getting it behind the Red Devil Keeper, followed by senior Roman Worthey getting the assist on yet another Luke Beaman goal just minutes later, as the half came to an end.
The Bruins scored 5 more times in the second half, taking the 12-0 win.
The Bruins will be on the road Thursday traveling to a 5-1 Umpqua Valley Christian / Melrose Christian looking to avenge their only season loss at the hands of the Bruins.
