The next installment of Brookings Les Schwab’s ‘Star Student-Athlete’ program features Brookings Harbor High School football quarterback Ethan Hooper.
Talking with Bruins football head coach Shaun Bavaro, “as a two-year captain Ethan proved to be a great leader and should carry that into a very successful future.” Coach Bavaro said.
On the field, Ethan became quite adept at understanding a new and complicated offense. He used his ability to learn quickly and apply his experience to recognize situations and react to defensive schemes on the fly and react accordingly.
Offensively Hooper threw for 60 completions from 121 passing attempts and finished with 669 total passing yards on the season. He averaged 5.5 yards per passing attempt and had 12 touchdowns on the season.
Defensively, Hooper lined up at linebacker and had 6 solo tackles and 18 assisted tackles on the season. 3.5 of those tackles were for a loss and he had 1 sack as he helped lead the Bruins Football program to the postseason for the second straight year.
During his senior year, Ethan Hooper also participated on the Bruin basketball team, was the Associated Student Body President, carried a 4.0 GPA, and is the 2019-2020 class Valedictorian.
Congratulations Ethan Hooper. Harvard is now that much smarter.
